A fire certificate is an official document issued to premises classified as designated premises. It is mandatory for all designated premises to obtain this certificate from the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department.
The categories of designated premises are as follows:-

For new premises, an application must be submitted promptly after obtaining the Certificate of Fitness (CF), Temporary Certificate of Fitness (TCF), or Certificate of Completion and Compliance (CCC).

Applications should be made at the State Fire and Rescue Department Headquarters or the Fire Zone Office responsible for the area where the designated premises are located, as these offices handle all Fire Certificate applications.

Applicants must make an application by submitting  Form I  and providing the following information:-

i. Copy of CCC or CFO
ii. Building Plan (which has been certified by JBPM during the issuance of CCC/CFO)
iii. Latest premises ownership letter
iv. Land title
v. Copy of gate tax
vi. Business license

The Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM) will schedule a date for the applicant to conduct an inspection of the designated premises. If all Fire Safety Systems are found to be in proper and satisfactory condition, a fire certificate will be issued within five days after the fee payment is made.
The certificate remains valid for a period of twelve (12) months.

All designated premises must be connected to the nearest fire station via a switchboard, enabling immediate and automatic alarm transmission in the event of an emergency.

Failure to Obtain Fire Certificate

If a building doesn’t get a fire certificate, the building owner could face a fine of up to RM50,000, up to 5 years in prison, or even both.

On top of that, there’s an extra fine of RM100 for every day the issue isn’t resolved after being convicted.
